47th ANNUAL CAPE COD SCALLOP FEST: Entertainment that Encompasses Something for Everyone!
Falmouth – Top acts, eclectic music, and multiple stages are just a few of the reasons to head to the 47th Annual Cape Cod Scallop Fest on September 23, 24, and 25, 2016 at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds. The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce has released its 2016 entertainment schedule, and it includes some of today’s hot new-comers as well as long-time local favorites. Further spicing up the mix, each day will feature a different genre of music. And to keep things rocking around the clock, they’re also incorporating a second stage into their newly designed village layout, bringing the action closer to the audience for a truly engaging experience.
Kristen Merlin, country music sensation, Top 5 finalist on season 6 of The Voice, and Massachusetts native, is bringing her playful, dancy, Tigger-like bouncing performance to the Cape Cod Scallop Fest as its headliner on Saturday, September 24th, starting at 6:30 pm. Kristen Merlin is a singer, songwriter & guitarist from the small town of Hanson, Massachusetts. Her album, "Boomerang," was released in January 2015 to great acclaim and continues to get fans grooving to her country jive.
Entrain returns on Friday, September 23rd with their epic sound and kaleidoscopic vision, thrilling audiences with their drums, horns, and full-throttle energy, taking the main stage at 6:30pm. Entrain has recorded eight albums, available on Dolphin Safe Records, all of which have been praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles - from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk - often within the same song. The whole Entrain concept is based around the drums and infectious rhythms.
Sunday features Cash is King, an extraordinary re-creation of The Man in Black, Johnny Cash & the Tennessee Three, along with June Carter Cash, performing at 4:30pm. Singer Brian Chicoine captures Cash's trademark baritone, while his band delivers the infectious, driving rhythm of the Tennessee Three. Of course, it wouldn't be a Johnny Cash show without Mrs. Cash, June Carter, brought to life by Vicky St. Pierre on such classic duets as "Jackson." With authentic costumes and stories from Cash's eventful life, Cash Is King is the true Johnny Cash experience.
Festival-goers will find something for everyone with an entertainment schedule that encompasses a variety of genres. Friday features Americana music, such as funk, blues, and rock-n-roll. Artists include The Michele Rockwell Band (blues), Don Macklin Band (funk, Motown), and Aldous Collins Band (rock). On Saturday, Country music will be pumping from the stage, with performances by Timmy Brown as well as the Houston Bernard Band. Sunday is all about Tribute bands, with Joe Merrick presenting Best of Classic Rock, and AfterFab covering The Beatles.
To make sure the energy surges throughout the grounds all day long, a second stage has been added to the village! The village stage will showcase solo artists such as Caroline Gray, Jay Psaros, Bradley Bartlett Roche, and Grace Morrison, and will also present various education demonstrations and other activities.
One needn’t remain stage-side to enjoy a little merriment! Roaming entertainers such as Cinderella, clowns, and jugglers will be weaving throughout the village to bring fun and smiles to everyone they encounter!
This enhanced entertainment experience is made possible by the help of our radio partners: Cape Cod Broadcasting, iHeartRADIO, CodComm, and Today’s Easy 99.1 WPLM. Turn your radio dial to their stations for chances to win free tickets to the Cape Cod Scallop Fest.
As always, our famous fried scallop and chicken dinners will be showcased at this American Bus Association’s Top 100 Event. Attendees can also enjoy offerings at the diverse food court and the beer and wine gardens. In addition to the live entertainment, kid’s rides and activities, a juried arts & craft show, and marine education and demonstrations will provide a host of activities for the entire family.
